1. Why can TPE sealing strips replace TPV?
TPV sealing strips have better elasticity and aging resistance than TPE. Why are they gradually being replaced by TPE in daily life applications? The main reasons are as follows:
1. Environmental protection:
o Although TPV is also environmentally friendly to a certain extent, it may produce harmful substances during the vulcanization process, resulting in a high VOC content and a strong smell, making it difficult to meet the increasingly stringent environmental standards.
o TPE materials are environmentally friendly, non-toxic, odorless, and recyclable, meeting the current high requirements for environmental performance.
2. Material performance:
o TPV sealing strips are better than TPE in terms of pressure change resistance, aging resistance, high and low temperature resistance, which is determined by chemical modification.
o Through the physical modification process, TPE's pressure change resistance, aging resistance, high and low temperature resistance can also meet the general national standard sealing strip requirements.
3. Processing cost:
o TPV is difficult to process, so the processing cost is significantly higher than TPE.
o TPE materials are easy to process and can be directly injection molded, shortening the molding cycle, and the recycled materials can be reused, reducing production costs.
2. Several key points in the preparation of TPE sealing strips
1. Base material selection:
o Choose SEBS with high molecular weight and star structure to ensure rebound performance, such as: YH-602T, 604T, LCY-7533.
o Paraffin oil is generally used for oil filling.
2. Modified material selection:
o Resin mainly uses PP, and low melt index PE is also added in the formula. If you feel that the high temperature pressure change is not enough, you can add a little PPO.
o Anti-aging agent can be selected from 1010 or 168 to improve the aging resistance.
o Lubricant can improve processing performance and make the surface smoother.
3. Processing temperature and hardness selection:
o The production process temperature of the sealing strip is 170~180 degrees.
o The hardness of the general sealing strip is about 65A.
